About
Hanna Gawel, PhD, is a Research Assistant at the Jagiellonian University, specialising in Social Communication and Media. Her research explores the intersections of media history, information management, and information ecology, with a focus on how structured communication systems shape knowledge, power, and participation in society. She has a particular interest in alternative and subversive media channels—tracing the evolution from pirate radio to Web3 broadcasting—as pivotal forces in the transformation of public discourse and media infrastructure. Dr. Gawel is also a methodologist and research design instructor, dedicated to cultivating rigorous, interdisciplinary inquiry in media and communication studies. Her work contributes to understanding how resilient information ecologies emerge across platforms and time periods, offering insights into both historical media systems and future-facing communication models. * * * Please reach out if you think I’d be a good fit for your academic department or industry research group.
